BASEBALL TEAM INKS THREE DURING EARLY SIGNING PERIOD
RICHMOND, Ky. - Eastern Kentucky University baseball coach Jim Ward has announced the signing of three players during the early signing period in November.
These include Mike Brown, 6-3, 190-pound outfielder from Centerville High School in Dayton, OH; J.R. Estes, 6-4, 210-pound first baseman from Waynesboro High School in Stuarts Draft, VA; and Robby Price, 6-0, 175-pound middle infielder from Fairfield High School in Hamilton, OH.
"Mike Brown has all the outstanding skills to be an exceptional collegiate player. He has good size, throws well and will be an outstanding offensive and defensive player," said Ward. "J.R. Estes is a power-hitting lefthanded hitter who will be a productive middle-of-the-order offensive player.
"And Robby Price is a middle infielder who loves to play and knows how to play. He is an aggressive player with good hands and excellent arms who can play all the infield positions. He is also a solid hitter at the plate," Ward continued.
Ward is excited about this group of signees as he prepares for his 20th season at the helm of the Colonel baseball program.
"This early signing class is the most talented since I've been at Eastern," Ward said. "These are the type of players we need to achieve our goal of OVC championships. The only recruiting goal we have now is to strengthen our pitching stafff."
Eastern finished last season with a 24-29-1 overall record, but returns seven starters from that team that advanced to the Final Four of the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament, finishing in third place.
