EKU LISTED AMONG NCAA LEADERS IN FINAL BASEBALL STATS
RICHMOND, Ky. - In final 1999 NCAA Division I statistics released recently by the NCAA Statistics Service, the Eastern Kentucky University baseball team was listed among the national leaders in several categories.
Coach Jim Ward's baseball Colonels, who finished tied for third place in the Ohio Valley Conference and who finished the year with a 35-25 overall record, set a single season school record for double plays with 71 and 11th in the nation in this category with 1.18 DP's per game.
The Colonels were also 13th in the country in home runs per game (97 long balls in 60 games, 1.62 pg.); 18th in slugging percentage (.540); and 32nd in team batting at .328, a mark which led the conference this past season.
