EKU BASEBALL TEAM ADDS LEFTHANDED PITCHER

RICHMOND, Ky. - Eastern Kentucky University head baseball coach Jim Ward has announced the signing of Keith Murnane, a lefthanded pitcher from Columbus, OH, to a national letter-of-intent.

Murnane pitched last year for Southeastern Illinois College, a junior college in Harrisburg, IL, where he appeared in 27 of Southeastern's 49 games as a relief pitcher. He compiled a 5-0 record for SIC with five saves, while striking out 40 batters in 45 innings of work. He walked only 11 batters and had an ERA of 2.02 last year.

"We are pleased to add Keith to our pitching staff as we believe he will make a significant contribution as a middle reliever, closer and possible starter," said Ward. "He has had an outstanding high school and juco career and comes highly recommended."

The 6-0, 180-pound Murnane was the Most Valuable Player and an All-State selection at Bishop Ready High School in Columbus.

He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Rich Murnane of Galloway, OH.
