FATHER-SON CLINIC, BASEBALL CAMPS SET FOR EKU

RICHMOND, Ky. - A Father-Son Baseball Clinic and two baseball camps will be administered by members of Eastern Kentucky University baseball coach Jim Ward's staff in the coming weeks.

Sunday, June 6th, from 1:00 - 5:00 p.m. at Turkey Hughes Field on the campus of EKU, a Father-Son Baseball Clinic will be held.

"This clinic is intended for father and son to share some time together and learn the great game of baseball," said Ron Nichols, the clinic's co-director and a graduate assistant on Ward's EKU coaching staff.

The cost for the clinic is $50.00.

Two baseball camps have been slated for Richmond's Lake Reba baseball facilities.

Session I will be held June 7-10 for 6-12 year olds and will focus on the development of young baseball players. The camp begins each day at 9:00 a.m. and closes at 1:00 p.m.

Session II will be held June 14-17 for players, 13 years old through high school seniors. (1999 senior year graduates are eligible to attend.) These four-day sessions will also run from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. The second session is an advanced camp intended for the serious baseball player.

Campers will receive a free camp tee-shirt, a camp certificate and quality instruction from collegiate coaches. The cost of both the Session I and Session II baseball camps is $150.00 each.

Part-time EKU assistant coach Jason Stein, the camps' co-director, is looking forward to working with the area youngsters.

"There is a lot of interest in baseball in Richmond and we feel like we can add something to these players' games that will be beneficial to them down the road," Stein said.

Interested campers should make checks payable to Colonel Baseball Camps and send to Eastern Kentucky University, Baseball Office, 521 Lancaster Avenue, Richmond, KY 40475.
