EKU'S DIAMOND DINNER SLATED FOR FEB. 12

RICHMOND, Ky. - Eastern Kentucky University will hold its annual Baseball Diamond and Dinner and Auction, Saturday, Feb. 12.

A silent auction and reception at Walnut Hall in the Keen Johnson Building will begin at 6:00 p.m. with the banquet to follow at 7:00 p.m.

Those receiving honors at this year's banquet include Donald Feltner, former Vice President for Public Affairs and University Relations and Development at EKU and former Eastern Maroons pitcher; Sam Holbrook, National League umpire and former Colonel pitcher; and Randy White, a former All-OVC pitcher for Eastern who was on the 1989 Ohio Valley Conference championship team.

Receiving senior awards will be senior members of the 1999 Colonels who helped that squad achieve an overall record of 35-25. Those players include pitcher Eric Bess, third baseman J.D. Bussell, designated hitter/pitcher Jason Estep, outfielder Sean Murray and catcher Joe Smith. In addition, the 2000 Colonel baseball team will be introduced.

A baseball memorabilia auction will feature items signed by Ken Griffey, Jr., Joe Morgan, Chipper Jones, Barry Larkin, among others.
