EKU SIGNS CORBIN RIGHTHANDED PITCHER

RICHMOND, Ky. - Brian Engle, who recorded a 10-3 record this past season for Corbin High School, has signed a national letter-of-intent with the Eastern Kentucky University Colonels.

Engle, a 6-2, 185-pound righthander, received Corbin High's Pitcher of the Year Award and was also selected to play in the East-West All-Star Game this year for coach Randall Sawyers' CHS Redhounds.

"Brian is one of the outstanding pitching prospects in the state of Kentucky," said EKU head baseball coach Jim Ward. "He has great potential to be an excellent Division I pitcher."

Engle holds school records for career wins (26), career strikeouts (276) and most strikeouts in a single season (106).

He is the son of Dennis and Jackie Engle of Corbin.
