EKU SIGNS LEFTHANDED PITCHER
RICHMOND, Ky. - Eastern Kentucky University baseball coach Jim Ward has announced the signing of lefthanded pitcher Dan Bachman of Elder High School in Cincinnati, OH, to a national letter-of-intent.
Bachman, 6-2, 175 pounds, pitched Elder High School to the 1999 Ohio state high school championship and was the winning pitcher in the regional finals, the state semifinals and the state finals. He had a career record at Elder of 17-1.
"Dan fills a big need we had for a lefthanded pitcher who has the ability to pitch in the starting rotation," said Ward. "He has had successful experience in a highly competitive high school and summer amateur programs. We are pleased that, after an intense recruiting process, Dan has selected EKU to continue his education and his baseball career."
He was a first-team All-Greater Cincinnati League choice and was selected to participate in the Cincinnati East-West All-Star Game and the All-Ohio Game. He was the recipient of the Ralph Birkster Outstanding Pitcher Award at Elder.
The son of Gary and Debbie Bachman of Cincinnati, Dan plans on majoring in business at EKU this fall.
